I try and get into the forums as much as possible to check up the latest messages.
That being said when I'm having a massive week and can't get into the forums, I do also find it easy to miss new threads..particularly if there's been lots happening that week, and the thread has already been partly buried!
I agree though DJ's in particular do have an obligation to make sure they at least look at the 'Only for DJs' board, but everyday chatters, I'm not so sure? I have a few friends who are registered who only use their account to come into chat, and never even knew about the forums!!!
I believe we need to have a link above the chat window, saying 'chat etiquette' with a clear list of 'dos and don'ts' about what's expected from chatters, ie no personal attacks, no excessive bad language, treat everyone with R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
And perhaps a tougher stance on misbehavior (although I understand the introduction of chat mods has helped). I mean if a moderator is in chat and someone is blatantly breaking the rules they should get a stern PM, if it continues, kicked...if they come back and keep doing it, ban. One mad apple in the bunch quickly turns everything sour!
If a DJ misbehaves, then they should get a tougher penalty! DJ's and hostesses should be setting the example for the rest of the chatters, and if this isn't so the mods need to consider whether he or she has a place at VDJR, after all we pride ourselves on being friendly and happy!
IMHO DJ's are certainly not protected species, and although we are volunteering our time, DJ's should not get special treatment because of their positions, if anything it needs to be quite the opposite!

Yep Auz.
For new members as well, it can be a bit daunting when you come in here, and you don't know anyone, or what anyone is talking about.
I think, a lot of stuff in the forum is of no interest for chatters whatsoever, who might just want to come in chat while they are listening.
I think the forum is in too many sections, sometimes I cannot be bothered to find my own posts because I can't remember where they are. It might put others off.
Yeaahh.... I really do not think the forum is an obligation for anyone apart from maybe the DJ's.
I do also think, that this topic is absolutely pointless if it is aimed at people who do not read the forum.......

I really think the - General Forum & Talks > General forum || English and the - Community Member Board > Members General Talks | For registered members should be merged, as they are essentially the same!

lol smart ass...
(yes, I've been reading posts)
+1 on the merger suggestion
As for the threads being buried, my suggestion is to use the link next to your avatar "Show unread posts since last visit". Yes, there may be lots at first but if you do "mark read" once, you can start from clean slate

I agree we need a "Chat Rules" link on the chat page, or even (if possible) a notice message that everyone sees when they login to chat. I have had somthign similar to this setup on my chat but I removed it, I will try and dig it up again :> I have noticed myself that chat has been much better over the last few weeks, it's nice to see the mods are helping Also I agree with you guys on the thing about how DJ's are representing the whole site, we are looked up to most of the time on here. When I first joined the site I thought it was amazing to talk with some good DJ's and have them respect me back :> Now everyday I try to send that same message back to the new chatters that we are all here to help them out. ok enough from me :P

At the end of the day 99% of us are always doing the right thing, the trouble makers are definitely in the minority as should be dealt with accordingly. And I definitely agree since mods have been introduced it has been better in general, so to you Taz, Clare and the other mods well done. Together we can apply common sense and knock out the riff-raff!!! and im sorry but i have to say i disagree with having a warning at the top of chat page or any were about behavior having mods in chat has helped but i know from a chatters point of view if i was to join a site and the first thing i see is a warning to be good sorry but i would find it very off putting and very unfriendly and well it would make me feel unease about chatting maybe i the only one who would feel this way ? That's a contradiction!!!! What you're saying you don't believe in a list of the rules of the game list above the chat window, but at the same time you expect everyone to get into the forum and read the rules!!??? I guess if not a list of rules then some way of linking the chat room to threads like this one, as I know for a fact many people who only ever come in chat and can't be bothered with the forum! I think if anything the situation is going to get better now the mods are in place, perhaps we need a few more mods *putting up my hand* particularly to cover the euro night shift!!! So keep up the good work, and keep spanking the naughty people! I totally agree with you Taz about the reason why you got hooked, and I feel the same way.... it would be a terrible shame to see the general aura of the chat room and community fail, but I really can't see that happening. Be stern, be strict, apply common sense and sort out the riff raff!!

Clareyz got that one Auz
I agree everyone does the right thing and 'rules' only make people believe they are doing the wrong thing. I don't really think this is a big deal.
